Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous.
He who is greedy for unjust gain brings trouble on his household, but he who hates bribes will live.
A gift in secret soothes anger, and a covert bribe pacifies great wrath.
Surely extortion turns a wise man into a fool, and a bribe corrupts the heart.
For I know that your transgressions are many and your sins are numerous. You oppress the righteous by taking bribes; you deprive the poor of justice in the gate.

Woe to those who enact unjust statutes and issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of fair treatment and withhold justice from the oppressed of My people, to make widows their prey and orphans their plunder. What will you do on the day of reckoning when devastation comes from afar? To whom will you flee for help? Where will you leave your wealth?
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!”

Woe to those who rise early in the morning in pursuit of strong drink, who linger into the evening, to be inflamed by wine. At their feasts are the lyre and harp, tambourines and flutes and wine. They disregard the actions of the LORD and fail to see the work of His hands. Therefore My people will go into exile for their lack of understanding; their dignitaries are starving and their masses are parched with thirst. Therefore Sheol enlarges its throat and opens wide its enormous jaws, and down go Zion’s nobles and masses, her revelers and carousers! So mankind will be brought low, and each man humbled; the arrogant will lower their eyes. . . .
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us.
What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
