The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.

Not all flesh is the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another, and fish another.

But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a verbal abuser, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

“Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything. “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will destroy them both. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.

If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

not dependent on wine, not violent but gentle, peaceable, and free of the love of money.

Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued or given to much wine or greedy for money.

Stop drinking only water and use a little wine instead, because of your stomach and your frequent ailments.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

But others mocked them and said, “They are drunk on new wine!”

On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Since Paul was ready to leave the next day, he talked to them and kept on speaking until midnight.

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. So the law became our guardian to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! I fear for you, that my efforts for you may have been in vain.

You who are trying to be justified by the law have been severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

By speaking of a new covenant, He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

My brothers, can a fig tree grow olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

For I testify about them that they are zealous for God, but not on the basis of knowledge.

Because they were ignorant of God’s righteousness and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law, to bring righteousness to everyone who believes.

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything to cause your brother to stumble.

One person regards a certain day above the others, while someone else considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.

But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
